Twelfth Night
Brighton Open Air Theatre provided the perfect ambiance for Tess Gill’s contemporary version of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’. Unexpectedly the play was set in 1969 and is a clever combination of comedy music and flower power alongside a truly talented cast. Each actor delivered the tricky Shakespearean dialect instinctively and reacted well with the audience.
Standout comedic performances were delivered by Nicolas Farr, who gave a rousing performance in leather trousers as Duke Orsino. Alistair Birch and Andrew Bird were utterly convivial as the camp Sir Andrew Aguecheek and Sir Toby Belch, providing much of the laughter throughout.
