Music: Together The People
Celebrating music, food, community, film and the arts in Brighton, the inaugural Together The People festival is a two day non-camping event to be held in the lovely inner city Preston Park.
Music is the main focus over the two days and co-partners One Inch Badge have put together an eclectic line up over two stages. Welsh legends Super Family Animals are on the bill along with ‘national treasure’ Billy Bragg and Brighton favourites The Levellers, still going very strong after 27 years in the business. Then there’s popular Swedish singer songwriter Jose Gonzales, Motown legenda Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, audio-visual concept band Public Service Broadcasting, the sublime Ghostpoet, Brighton indie country-punk legends Brakes, and British hip hop artist Roots Manuva..
Brighton is also welll served by a number of up and coming acts including Jacko Hooper, Matthew the Oxx, Ellie Ford, Half Crown, Jack Watts, Written in Waters, Time for T and Lu’Ami,
Together The People are also hosting a unique collaboration with Picturehouse Brighton and a pop-up ‘soapbox’ stage where local community groups and charities can talk about their work and the public can engage with local political and social bodies in Q&A sessions. The soapbox stage will also act as a platform for other creative arts and entertainment such as literature, poetry and comedy.
Scattered around the site there will several bars serving beverages from local breweries, as well as a market/diner area which will exclusively house local independent food, clothing and arts concessions. They also intend to provide a series of pop-up galleries around the site for artists to use for live and exhibition purposes.
Together The People are supporting Brighton Housing Trust as the lead charity partner for the event.
The park site is all ages; an adult must accompany under 16’s. Children are classed at 11yrs – 16yrs. Under 11’s may attend free of charge. Gates will open at 1200 on both days with a curfew of 2200.
