Outpost
Terry Gilliam is a fan of company Green Ginger’s work, and he surely served as an influence himself on Outpost’s bizarre sci-fi plot. The elaborate puppet drama revolved around an outpost between ‘Escobia’ and ‘Grud’ where guards Luis and BK bicker, and then get caught in a beautifully lit, mysterious underground cavern with aliens called ‘Ogoffs’. The political overtones regarding tolerance and othering were not too heavy-handed, although it was a little simplistic and the show might have benefited from more focus on tightening up the plot and script. Thankfully the performers were strong, the puppet’s well designed and the whole show intelligently, beguilingly staged.
