Leaders: Astute Appointment
Sussex estate agent privileged to represent county at Association of Residential Letting Agents
A Chichester-based estate agent is honoured to have been reappointed as the Association of Residential Letting Agents’ (ARLA’s) representative for Sussex for a second three-year term.
Ian Colban, branch manager at Leaders in Chichester, will resume the prestigious role this month. He will act as a point of contact for all ARLA-registered agents across the county and represent them at the regulatory body’s meetings and conferences.
Ian explains: “I am extremely proud to once again serve as ARLA’s representative for Sussex. This allows me to influence and protect regulation of the local lettings market and to help fellow registered agents to achieve the highest standards.
“The lettings industry is still unregulated which means that anyone could set up an agency with no qualifications or experience. ARLA firmly believes that the industry should be regulated and works closely with the government and other industry bodies to lobby the relevant ministers and influence housing policy.
ARLA firmly believes that the lettings industry should be regulated
“ARLA agents adhere to a strict code of practice as laid down by the Department of Communities and local government which ensures that clients’ money is properly protected at all times and that all legislation relating to the industry is properly adhered to. ARLA helps to ensure that member agents are working in the best interests of both landlords and tenants, which I believe is crucial at all times. Its regulations are always drawn up with both parties in mind.
“Our branch in Chichester is well versed in delivering excellent customer service that is based on professionalism, knowledge and experience and I am committed to ensuring all ARLA agents act in a similar way.”
As part of Ian’s role, he provides a regular full round-up of developments in Sussex for coverage in the Property Professional magazine, published by the National Federation of Property Professionals.
Leaders and ARLA have a long history dating back more than 30 years. The founder of Leaders in 1983, Neville Lee OBE, was also the co-founder of ARLA and the company has been a member of the regulatory body ever since.
