Driver sends car crashing into Brighton restaurant

A driver was treated in hospital after crashing into three cars and an Indian restaurant early yesterday (Sunday 2 October).

The 33-year-old man from London was heading out of Brighton in a silver Seat Alhambra when the accident happened on the A23 London Road in Patcham.

He veered out of control across to the other side of the road and collided with three parked cars, a Fiat Multipla, a Renault Megane and a Ford Mondeo.

The impact sent the Fiat crashing into the Elizabethan Cottage Tandoori in Old London Road, causing damage to the front wall.

The driver was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Kemp Town to be treated for minor injuries after the accident which happened at about 8.40am. No one else was hurt.

PC Ian Foxton, of the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit, urged witnesses to come forward.
