Detectives investigate after man approaches girl, 11, in Hove

A man approached an 11-year-old girl as she walked to school in Hangleton this morning (Wednesday 5 October).

Sussex Police said that they were investigating the incident which happened at about 8am at the junction of Hangleton Way and Hardwick Road.

The man came up behind the girl and touched her on the top of her head.

She ran away. When she turned around she saw a man sitting on the ground before he turned and walked away.

Detective Sergeant Duncan Elliott said: “We do not know what were the intentions of the man but the girl was confused and shaken by being approached.”

The man was described as white, aged about 50, of medium build, with grey hair and an unkempt appearance.
