Sport: home game

Dan Tester, lifelong BHA fan, and author of Brighton & Hove Albion On This Day

Lewis Dunk, Craig Noone, Dan Tester and Inigo Calderon

Who is your sporting hero?
Sir Steve Redgrave.

How long have you been following the club?
All my life, over 30 years.

Who are your top Brighton & Hove Albion players, past and present?
From the past, John Crumplin, and the present, Adam El-Abd.

What’s been the highlights for you watching BHAFC?
This season it’s Will Buckley’s winner against Doncaster Rovers in the first game at Falmer. Of all time, it’s either;Gordon Smith’s goal in the FA Cup Final, or Robbie Reinelt’s at Hereford – the latter was more important.

And the worst moment?
The last game at the Goldstone and any of the midweek, fourth-tier, bottom-of-the-table defeats at Priestfield.

What other sports do you play or are you interested in?
I play badminton occasionally and cycle often. I love Aussie Rules football and enjoy playing darts.

If you could live anywhere in Sussex where would it be?
Tough one. Probably Ditchling or Poynings but as long as it’s in Sussex, I’ll be happy.

Where do you actually live?
Poets’ Corner, Hove.

Where do you shop in the city?
North Laine – brilliant shops and excellent shopkeepers. Sydney Street is my favourite, closely followed by Bond Street. I avoid Churchill Square and the surrounding area.

Do you have a favourite restaurant?
Wendy’s. It’s a top secret location in central Brighton.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?
My Technics 1210 turntables. The best investment I’ve ever made, bar none.

In the film of your life, who would you like to play you?
I’ve got a more of a face for radio to be honest, but if I had to pick someone, it would be George Clooney, or maybe Brad Pitt when he was ten years younger.

Tell us a secret…
I have a new book – about Brighton and Hove – coming out in February next year…
