Fire crews tackle small blazes in Portslade and Whitehawk
Fire crews tackled two small fires in Brighton and Hove over the past few days.
Firefighters from Hove were called to a property in Portslade early yesterday evening (Sunday 29 January) after a toaster caught fire.
Two crews were sent to the incident in Graham Avenue, Mile Oak, at 6.13pm, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said.
An ambulance was called to the scene as a precautionary measure after a 97-year-old man breathed in smoke.
Crew members then carried out a home safety visit to the flat.
On Friday (27 January) three crews from Brighton were called to a property in Whitehawk Road, Brighton, after overcooked fire started a small kitchen fire.
A spokesman said that no one was injured in the lunchtime blaze in Whitehawk.
