Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Despite seemingly Arctic conditions outside, there was a good turn out to see New York indie rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Opening with ‘Let The Cool Goddess Rust Away’, Alec Ounsworth’s voice was definitely distinctive with its crackle sounding better live than recorded. ‘Satan Said Dance’ was a crowd-mover, prompting everyone to chant. Prior to the encore, ‘The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth’ left everyone bouncing, and the rest of the band finally started to crack a smile or two. A slightly disappointing encore meant a newer song from album ‘Hysterical,’ wound down the memento a peg or two. But the finale ‘Heavy Metal’ reminded us why their self-titled album – released through the power of blog-culture – originally created that buzz.
