Over The Rainbow – The Eva Cassidy Story

I’d have quite happily sat through a set of Eva Cassidy hits; instead the music was interspersed with acted scenes from her life which left many questions unanswered. The music is first class and plaudits do need to be given to the cast for some excellent musicianship especially the singing talents of Sarah Jane Buckley who absolutely nailed the difficult vocal range and dexterity of Eva’s voice. But the laboured and third rate script let this production down and inevitably skimmed over issues that were never explained fully. Her death is performed with great emotion but I have to take a star off for the script.
