Crimewatch appeal for missing drugs suspect who may be in Brighton

A man wanted by police may be hiding in Brighton, according to detectives

Robert Gamble, 53, who is wanted in relation to drugs offences, is known to have links to the area.

He absconded after a pack of cocaine worth about £8,000 was removed from his body by doctors at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in January last year.

He is the subject of an appeal by West Mercia Police on Crimewatch on BBC TV this evening (Thursday 22 March).

Detective Constable Alex Sullivan, of Shrewsbury CID, said: “After his procedure Gamble discharged himself from hospital and hasn’t been seen since.

“Our investigations have found that he appears to be spending his time in the Croydon and Brighton area but we have not been able to locate him.

“We would like to appeal to the public for any information about his whereabouts.”

CCTV footage of Gamble and a still photograph taken from his passport will be shown on Crimewatch which is due to be broadcast at 9pm tonight.

Anyone who can help to trace Gamble is asked to contact Shrewsbury CID on 0300 333 3000.
