Pete Firman – Jiggery Pokery
Pete Firman is engaging, funny and – at times – literally an awe-inspiring magician. His line in banter was playful and cheeky, his tricks creative and also involving a few classics, but with his own patter making them feel fresh and sufficiently suspending disbelief. Favourites were the Tabletop Dance and The Guillotine – both integral aspects of the second part of the show, but this was a show of two halves. The first half seemed more of a mish mash of an introduction from Firman followed by a club set from support act Chris Martin, who delivered a nice turn in observational self-deprication. Both serviceable but not up to the par of the second half, creating something of an imbalance.
