Drug dealing pair jailed after police raid Brighton flat

Two drug dealers from Liverpool have been jailed after pleading guilty to offences committed in Brighton.

Paul Mogan, 31, a garage worker, of Mackets Lane, Liverpool, and Paul Connor, 27, of Blacksmith Place, Liverpool, were each sentenced to five years in prison for having heroin with intent to supply.

Connor was also sentenced to three years for having cocaine with intent to supply and his two sentences will run consecutively, making eight years in total.

The two men were arrested when detectives from Sussex Police executed a drugs warrant at a flat in Whitehawk Road, Brighton, on Thursday 29 September last year.

They fled as the police entered but were both arrested after a short chase.

When the flat was searched, officers found just under 1kg of heroin, with an estimated potential street value of between £36,000 and £45,000.

A search of Connor’s address in Liverpool led to a further find of 125g of cocaine with a potential estimated street value of £3,000 to £6,500, as well as mixing agent.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “This case shows once again that we will take every opportunity to disrupt dealing in dangerous drugs and to prevent them reaching the streets.”

The pair were sentenced at Hove Crown Court on Friday (30 March).
