Toyah Willcox – The Changeling Resurrection Tour

Resplendent in headwear which would make Vivienne Westwood shake her head and tut, Toyah Willcox gave her audience a lesson in stagecraft, turning a messy dress rehearsal into a command performance through sheer chutzpah and professionalism. Fully aware of the irony implicit in a woman of ‘(almost) fifty-four’ belting out the lyrics ‘I don’t wanna go to school’, she introduced one of her biggest hits with a giggle and the words ‘let’s get childish’. Toyah was quite plainly having a blast, and swept her audience along with her as she grabbed every opportunity to revel in her music’s kitsch glory.
