Three face court over Hove and Portslade burglaries

Three men are due before Brighton magistrates this morning (Friday 20 April) charged with burglaries in Hove and Portslade.

Robert Hooper, 51, of Downland Crescent in Hangleton, Tony Cooper, 19, of no fixed address, and Robert Cox, 26, also of Downland Crescent, were arrested early yesterday (Thursday 19 April).

They are each accused of two burglaries – in Hamilton Close, Mile Oak, and Northease Drive, Hangleton.

They are all also accused of trying to burgle two other properties – in Hamilton Close and Wickhurst Rise, Portslade.

Cox is also charged with driving without a licence or insurance and failing to stop after a collision.

Sussex Police said that a Peugeot 106 was seen leaving the area shortly after a burglary was reported in Hamilton Close at 5.15am yesterday.

The car overturned on the Hangleton Link Road where three men were arrested.

The suspects are in custody and are due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today.
