Greg Holden

This American based Brit is a curious mix of the northern and New York, and although there are hints of Springsteen/Josh Ritter and americana in his music, he really is a Brit at heart – a blend of Frank Turner, Billy Bragg and David Ford. And like Ford, Holden’s songs often reek of desperation and someone who is a little out of sorts. But Holden though is a spirited fighter, not least via his brave move to America and his endeavours to make a career on his own terms… The recent album ‘I Don’t Believe In You’ was made possible via fans’ pledges, and there were many true fans of his work here, much of the venue singing along to ‘Bar On A’, a rousing drunken song that not only closes the show, but the album too. Psychologists may have a field day with that notion, but it sent everyone home uplifted.
