Brighton man charged with Bevendean murder
A Brighton man has been charged with murder today after a stabbing early yesterday (Saturday 5 May).
Carlo Dawes, 34, of Taunton Road, Bevendean, was charged this evening (Sunday 6 May) with the murder of 37-year-old Graham Pethard from Liverpool.
Dawes has been remanded to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Monday 7 May).
Paramedics and police were called to a flat in Taunton Road at about 5.20am yesterday but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination found that he died from extensive blood loss caused by a knife wound.
Sussex Police said earlier that officers were still searching for a weapon which they believed to be a 6in (15cm) kitchen knife.
A police cordon and scene guards remained in place in the Taunton Road area.
Detective Inspector Phil Mays said earlier: “Inquiries are continuing to establish what led up to this tragic incident.”
