Revenge Of The Cat Lady is in essence a love letter. A love letter filled with hilarity. Susan Calman is getting married – or rather civil ceremonied, as the powers that be won’t let her get ‘married’ – to a woman she has been with for nine years, and Calman has a list of reasons why the love of her life shouldn’t marry her. The first of which is the list’s very existence. This is fun, boisterous, adventurous, very personal and jam-packed full of charm so that by the time the show came to a close I was a little bit in love with Ms Calman. As she says at the beginning, tonight we are all lesbians, even the straight guy with a beard. Inclusive is the key, and with a tear in her eye at the end she appeals to us all to do something about laws that are stopping her from getting ‘married’. A love letter that’s so fresh and heartfelt and funny, everyone deserves to be loved like this.
