Dr Frankenstein’s Travelling Freak Show
Marvellously grotesque and freakishly compulsive. This bullying tyrant of a Victorian showman and his collection of freaks bring the story of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to life with this show within a show. Utilising film, puppetry, shadow puppetry and gruesome and delightfully delivered and well choreographed fighting and brutality. You can smell the greasepaint and wretchedness in this dark tale, starring not only Frankenstein’s creature as himself in the interior play, but also practically an extra player on stage in the atmospheric oompah and wistful German fairytale-like strains of the suitable monster-attired band. Darkly and nastily fabulous from start to finish.
