Triptych

Triptych saw Brighton’s Feral Theatre present three loosely linked stories in Preston’s 13th century church, effectively combining storytelling, puppetry, music and dance. Emily Laurens considered the fate of the near-extinct Eskimo curlew with multi-layered shadow puppetry; Rachel Porter performed a complex first person interpretation of the life of Roma poet Papusza; and Persephone Pearl concluded with a dazzling aerial re-enactment of one woman’s role in the 90s road protest movement. The performers’ commitment to this diverse and technically impressive trio of shows was convincing, and a credit to Feral Theatre for sending the audience home bursting with ideas, literature and hope.
