Balloon
It’s 7 o’clock and Clive (Michael J Buchanan-Dunne) is getting ready to host his 36th birthday party when one of the balloons starts talking to him. This ‘comedy’ got off to a slow start, with an overlong set-up scene as Altered Image’s ‘Happy Birthday’ blasted out, and went downhill from there. The jokes were weak and predictable, verging on the puerile and offensive. The Balloon (Mark Davison) was so obnoxious I couldn’t understand why Clive hadn’t popped it in the first five minutes. Perhaps if Buchanan-Dunne reworked it as a drama it might fair better. As it is, it just left us deflated.
