Fire crews tackle motorhome blaze in Brighton

A motorhome and tree caught fire in Brighton in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 6 June).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that it received calls just before 1.15am to the blaze at Preston Barracks in Lewes Road, Brighton.

Two fire engines from Preston Circus were sent and firefighters removed an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinder from the scene and put out the blaze.

South East Coast Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew to treat a casualty who had burns to his hands and had breathed in smoke.

The fire was extinguished just after 1.45am and crews stayed at the scene damping down until 2.20am.

Yesterday (Tuesday 5 June) a fire was started in a disused garage in Pankhurst Avenue, Brighton.

Firefighters from Preston Circus and Roedean were sent to tackle the suspected arson attack just after 2.15pm.

The put out the fire before it caused any serious damage to the garage.
