This week: James Togut for People’s Day
“We all feel better when the sun shines and we aim to make Brighton and Hove the sunniest place in the country. The sunshine we want to spread is the warm glow of being appreciated. So on People’s Day we will be celebrating the work of the community and voluntary groups through photos taken by the B&H Camera Club. We’ll also be introducing the Sunshine Awards programme to recognise people and groups that bring sunshine to our city. The award ceremony will be held on People’s Day 2012 to say thank you to volunteers, carers, people who recycle, take care of their health and shop locally.”
Brighton based James Togut is a social innovator with a background in the charity sector. He trained as a life coach which led him to fund the Sunshine Bank and a social enterprise called The Good Life For All.
“Spreading the sunshine” is James’s latest project – an experiment in giving thanks and recognition to people in the city. This new project will be launched on People’s Day on 14 July at the Pavilion Gardens. For more info: www.spreadingthesunshine.org, www.thegoodlifeforall.com
