The Fairy Queen (on demand) – Glyndebourne Opera

Why would you want to view opera at the cinema? Well, the good folk at the Duke Of York’s help to make it an occasion so you can almost imagine you’re at the opera house. Of course, the Glyndebourne production is a delight, the singing near perfect. The sound and vision, from the DVD of 2009, is edited sensitively and comes across well on the wide screen. It is like having the best seats in the house and being able to zoom in to see detail, all in informal comfort. Check the Duke Of York’s programme for more of these opera treats.

    Correction:
I must apologise for a significant error in my review.

I should have said that the Duke of York’s actually don’t project off a DVD, but from a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) which is a high definition copy of the performance.

That means the opera relays are even better than I thought!
