Frankie Rose

Now a solo act, having spent time in several indie bands, the Brooklyn-based singer/guitarist showed she had moved away from her punkier roots with a set that switched between 60’s girl groups and 80’s goth. The opener was very Cure-like with heavy bass lines and swirling effects pedals and they played a faithful cover of ‘A Forest’ later in the set. There was a West Coast feel throughout with Fleetwood Mac harmonies and catchy Go-Gos hooks while ‘Interstellar’ was pure Rocky Horror Show. The show ended well with a Phil Spectorish version of The Vivian Girls’ ‘Where Do You Run To’.
