Music fans are rightly starting to feel fatigued by the current glut of reunion tours, but this show was everything that a comeback gig should be. The Inspiral Carpets were always more musically talented than most of their contemporaries, and the passage of time has not diminished their abilities. Spurred on by the presence of original singer Stephen Holt after 23 years apart, the Madchester legends rattled through an impressive, raucous greatest hits set, without a bum note to be heard. The band clearly loved every minute of the gig, but not half as much as their legion of diehard fans.
