Latest Interiors finds curtains & blinds for the changing seasons

New curtains or blinds will give your home an instant update. They can also be a great way of adding this season’s colours and patterns into your home. Wondering what the best-dressed windows are wearing this season? Look no further…

Beautiful blinds
Blinds are probably the most practical window dressing: easy to clean and maintain, they work on most windows. Their neat, economical design also makes blinds an ideal choice for smaller spaces and contemporary-style homes. They can work very well in awkward spaces: curtains can be cumbersome in a large or square bay, but blinds will slot neatly in.

Roller blinds are very space efficient, and give a clean, modern look. For bedrooms (especially children’s rooms) black-out roller blinds are idea, as they exclude every chink of light. Semi-opaque, textured blinds work like voiles or nets and allow some light in whilst maintaining privacy – they also look great. Venetian (‘slatted’) blinds are versatile enough for multi-purpose spaces, studies and studios.

Because blinds are so simple in form and design, they are an easy way to introduce bold colour or pattern into a room. Use the blinds and a few key accessories to bring in this season’s animal, nature or folk-art prints, or some rich autumn colours.

Pull them together
Curtains are back in style: full length voile panels make a dramatic style statement, and afford you some daytime privacy, while heavier silks and velvets are ideal for the coming winter months. If you opt for something opulent, pick up the colour or fabric in other soft furnishings to bring it all together. It’s easy to update your look and change curtains according to the season (or your mood). Choose cotton voile or linen in summer months, and heavier fabrics for the winter. If you have the budget, go bespoke for a custom made fit, unless your windows are ‘standard’ sizes, in which case you might find the perfect pair on the high street.
