Stage: Romeo & Juliet

A new Shakespeare from award winning Icarus Theatre Collective at the Connaught Theatre Worthing

Violent delights have violent ends in Romeo and Juliet by Icarus Theatre Collective. Following their previous productions of Macbeth and Hamlet, Icarus Theatre Collective presents a bold new production of Shakespeare’s most tragically romantic tale at the Connaught Theatre in Worthing.

Max Lewendel once again directs the cast in a vibrant, contemporary version of The Bard’s beloved tale of young love torn apart by family rivalry. The famous play unravels the story of Romeo and Juliet’s love, which blossoms in defiance of their families and in secrecy from their closest friends. Misadventure, family pride and ancient quarrels must ultimately destroy the lovers’ hopeful beginning.

Icarus Theatre Collective launched in 2004 and has a reputation for punchy and vibrant productions of contemporary and classic theatre. The company’s productions have received accolades including Time Out’s Critics Choice and have performed their work both nationally and internationally, winning awards across Europe. Icarus is perhaps best known for their award-winning production of R.C. Sheriff’s Journey’s End, which played to sell-out houses during its national tour.
