Brighton Art Fair 2012, Biba & Beyond exhibition launch, Fiery Foods Festival, Komedia revamp & charity walk


Brighton Art Fair
Thursday 20 September welcomed the Brighton Art Fair 2012. An exciting and inspiring show covering all media and styles from artists from all over the UK. This year the fair welcomes back Arthouse Meath, the charity supporting artistic talents and skills of adults living with epilepsy and learning difficulties.

Biba and Beyond
Thursday 20 September saw the launch of a major fashion exhibition at the Brighton Museum, the cutting edge Biba & Beyond. Designer Barbara Hulanicki and her iconic label, transformed the high street shopping experience in the 1960s and ‘70s. Barbara has come full circle with successful designs for Topshop and George at Asda. Biba and Beyond is at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery until 14 April 2013.

Fiery Foods Festival
The world renowned Fiery Foods Festival (FFUK) returned to Victoria Gardens on 14 –Sunday 16 September, bringing with it a wide range of entertainment, exhibitors, competitions, celebrity guests and plenty of hot food. Events included the FFUK Chilli Eating Contest and music from the likes of The Muel, The Lovely Brothers and Rough Chowder.

Komedia reopening
It’s been a busy year for Komedia. The entertainment venue in Gardner Street announced a partnership with Picturehouse Cinemas who will take over the upstairs venue and open it as two cinema screens. The company who run the iconic Duke Of York’s at Preston Circus have started work to convert the
upstairs space which is due to open in December.

To celebrate these significant changes Komedia held a party with live music from Mountain Firework Company and invited friends to see the venue in all its sparkling glory. www.komedia.co.uk/brighton

Winston’s Wish West Sussex Sunrise Walk
In spite of the predicted inclement weather which rolled into Sussex from the West Country, Winston’s Wish West Sussex ‘Sunrise Walk’ fundraisers donned their wet weather gear and big smiles, and strolled out promptly at 6am to walk the beautiful 10 mile coastal route from Littlehampton to Lancing.
