The Boy With Tape On His Face – More Tape

With a fast-moving, frequent applause-inspiring, ache-from-laughing show, packed with props and musical punchlines, this silent stand-up demonstrated exactly why this show has been receiving plaudits and rave reviews. Involving a fair amount of audience participation, this was good natured and sharply conceived. Some critics have levelled that is more of the same, with no strong linear arc, but as that’s never stopped Jimmy Carr and other speaking comics from producing top dollar shows, it’s simply a matter of chosen style. This left the entire audience grinning in happy fatigue and the final notes of Nena’s ’99 Red Balloons’ echoing in our ears.
