Brighton radio operator starts station for nostalgic listeners
The company behind Juice Brighton has started a sister station called Smile Sussex.
Brighton and Hove Radio said that the new station was available on DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radio across the whole county.
It said that Smile Sussex was the first of its kind in the country, devoted entirely to the sound of mellow music and romantic vocalists.
Veteran broadcaster David Hamilton said: “I am delighted to be involved with the launch of Smile Sussex, the new digital radio station for the South Coast.
“This is the first time that a collection of nostalgic pop classics and traditional standards has been available back to back on the airwaves.
“Smile Sussex is unashamedly sentimental and the first feedback from our new listeners has been heartfelt and positive.”
The station promised classics from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Julie London.
