London to Brighton Veteran Car Run under way
The first cars have arrived on Brighton seafront in the annual Veteran Car Run.
Motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, a stalwart of the event, were among those taking part.
The organisers said that about 500 vehicles built in or before 1905 set off from Hyde Park in London starting at 7am today (Sunday 4 November).
The RAC London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is held to commemorate the Emancipation Run in 1896.
The first run marked the lifting of the speed limit from 4mph to 14mph and the end of the legal requirement for vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot.
This year’s event is raising money for the Royal British Legion.
