BREMF: Celebrating Gabrieli – 400th Anniversary Concert

St Mark’s Venice has long been famed for its pageantry and exuberance. Giovanni Gabrieli developed these qualities substantially in his ceremonial music. The English Cornett And Sackbut Ensemble, a band of hardwood trumpets and narrow-bore trombones, recreated these antique sounds with masterly skill. The BREMF Consort of Voices, arranged as a number of different-voiced choirs, achieved an impressive variety of beautiful sonorities and effects. Extra jubilant sound came courtesy of the BREMF Gabrieli Workshop Choir. Director Deborah Roberts kept it all together, supported by the fantastic Claire Williams on the organ. Brighton is so lucky to luxuriate in such talent.
