Beth Orton

St George’s Church in Kemptown is an unlikely venue for a music concert but perfect for the beautiful, haunting vocals of Beth Orton. Songs such as ‘Something More Beautiful’, ‘Magpie Lyrics’ and ‘State of Grace’ resonated around the churches domed roof. Beth created a magical atmosphere with dimmed lighting casting shadows though the facades of the church. It was a very personal experience and great to see that St George’s Church invites a different type of worshippers to enjoy the 187 year old building. ‘Central Reservation’ and ‘Concrete Sky’ were a welcome addition to the song list and the crowd enjoyed Beth’s banter.
