The xx

What you see with The xx is what you get; a shy, minimalist and gothic image. In contrast, Romy and Oliver’s voices’ live sound so sweet as the Putney trio opened their set with ‘Heart Skipped a Beat.’ The visuals were stunning as if watching one of their music videos, thanks to the clever lighting and smoke. Despite their moody and sombre songs, Oliver very comfortably danced and strode with his guitar across the stage and along with Romy, their dark silhouettes moved in sync with one another. The xx played classics off their first album xx, ‘VCR’, ‘Crystalised’ and ‘Islands’. Yet Jamie’s recent DJ’ing venture on the club circuit seemed an influence as they played a fusion of dance and guitar tracks off their recently released album ‘Coexist.’ You couldn’t fault The xx’s set; flawless.
