Next up: Birmingham Away
So, what of this encounter? A former Premier League team fallen on hard times, a team hovering above the relegation trap door and with an absent foreign owner. The contrast with The Albion couldn’t be greater. An easy game? Don’t be so sure. This season, the Championship has shown, that almost any team can beat another, it’s very competitive. Any team not performing to their maximum ability on the day can be well beaten and at this time of the season struggling teams who retain their managers often start hitting match winning form as they gerd their loins for the fight against relegation. Whether Birmingham City fall into this category is debatable, but their draw at Leeds United in the FA Cup 3rd round certainly hinted at a certain resilience. They have some good players too, watch out for young Morrison, once of Manchester United no less, who ran the Leeds defence ragged and the former Burnley player, Wade Elliot is a potent threat. They have lost promising defender, Will Packwood to a broken leg but are managed by Lee Clark who is much respected for his fine work when he managed an attack minded Huddersfield Town. Clark’s footballing philosophy should mean a decent match up, expect a draw from this one but the three points would be very handy and could propel Albion into play-off contention.
