Brighton and Hove commuters face delays and cancellations in the cold

Commuters from Brighton, Hove and Portslade faced cancelled and delayed trains this morning (Monday 21 January).

The main train operator Southern said: “Services across our network are being disrupted due to the late finish of improvement works which has delayed our lines being treated to remove the build up of ice.”

Southern had already announced an amended timetable for today after more snowfall over the weekend.

It said that this timetable would be subject to alteration with passengers facing some cancellations.

First Capital Connect said that some of its Thameslink services between Brighton and Bedford were severely disrupted.

Brighton and Hove Buses said that almost all its services were running normally.

It said that the number 23 and 25 buses were unable to reach the Sussex University and Brighton University campuses in Falmer so were terminating at Falmer Station.

The 24 is running along along Coldean Lane rather than going through the Coldean estate.

And the 27 is unable to reach Westdene so is turning round at the roundabout where Dyke Road Avenue meets the A27 roundabout.

Other changes are on the bus company’s website www.buses.co.uk.
