Snow keeps some Brighton and Hove schools closed

Most schools opened but the snow and ice has led to some closures today (Monday 21 January).

Brighton and Hove City Council said that the schools and other education centres that were closed today were

  • Acorn Nursery in The Rise, Mile Oak Road
  • Brighton and Hove Pupil Referral Unit in Lynchet Close
  • Cedar Centre Special School
  • Cherry Tree Nursery in Hollingdean
  • Coldean Primary School
  • Dorothy Stringer
  • Downs View School and Link College
  • Dv8 Training in Brighton
  • Friends Centres at Brighton Junction and Ivory Place
  • Hillside School
  • Mile Oak Primary School
  • Moulsecoomb Primary School
  • Portslade Infant School
  • St John the Baptist Catholic Primary
  • St Mark’s CE Primary School
  • St Martin’s CE Primary School
  • St Margaret’s CE Primary School
  • West Blatchington Primary School
  • The Whitehawk Inn

Others had a later start. They included

  • Bevendean Primary School which plans to open at 9.45am
  • Carden Primary which plans to open at 9.45am
  • Hangleton Infant School which plans to open at 9.30am
  • Hangleton Junior School which plans to open at 9.30am
  • Hillside School which expects to open at 10am
  • St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School which will open at 10.30am
  • St Peter’s Infant and Nursery School which plans to open at 9.45
  • Varndean School which plans to open at 9.45am
