MP holds surgery in Hove doctor’s surgery

Hove MP Mike Weatherley held his constituency surgery in a doctor’s surgery.

Mr Weatherley discussed the future of Dr David Henderson’s practice in Burwash Road in Hangleton along with Dr Elle Turlini and practice manager Nicky Blackmore.

They asked for the meeting to discuss the future of their surgery in light of plans to build 700 homes in neighbouring Toads Hole Valley.

The Conservative MP said that the plans could completely change the nature of the GP surgery.

Mr Weatherley, the general practitioners (GPs) and the practice manager discussed the implications for the surgery of the proposed new homes and ways in which views could be put forward.

Mr Weatherley said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet the team at Burwash Road and I welcome Dr Elle Turlini to Hove.

“This is a thriving and lively surgery and a successful community hub.

“We had a good chat about Toads Hole Valley and a number of different medical issues.

“The proposal to develop this green space has implications for so many so it is vital that we discuss every angle with absolute thoroughness.”

Hangleton and Knoll Labour councillor Brian Fitch has been leafleting homes in the area about the proposal.

He is urging residents to join a protest to “save our Valley” outside Hove Town Hall at 3pm on Thursday (31 January) before a meeting of Brighton and Hove City Council.

The aim is to demonstrate opposition to building in the valley before the council meeting which is expected to agree in principle the idea of turning it into a new estate.
