Amy Macdonald

Amy Macdonald hardly needed her lucky Scottish microphone. As her incredible voice filled the room, it seemed like she could have managed without it as she belted out hit after hit, including ‘This Is The Life’, ‘Mr Rock & Roll’, and fantastic covers of ‘Higher And Higher’ and ‘Dancing In The Dark’. Between songs she was warm and friendly, employing just a bit of emotional blackmail to get the crowd going with threats of branding Brighton her laziest audience if we stayed in our seats. That was enough to get everyone up and joining in ‘Slow It Down’, and we kept standing and clapping until she was brought back for an extended encore at the end with much stamping of feet.
