Arlington geared up for Bluebell season

The bluebell season is upon us once again and Arlington is certainly ready

Despite contrary beliefs, Spring has officially arrived and the Bluebells inevitably become the rural icon of Sussex. Countryside walking enthusiasts annually frequent Arlington’s 23 acres of the little blue gems. This publicity has allowed money to be raised for various charities over the past 41 years. The total has reached an impressive £240,000 for 60 local charities and the good work is being encouraged now more than ever. 17 charities this year are tasked with providing walkers food and drink.

Due to the less than desirable weather, the Arlington team are looking to spice things up by organising a number of activities largely aimed at children. A kid’s quiz and a lesson in farm animals (cow milking included) are all expected to liven up anyone dampened by the miserable climate.

A friend of the Arlington Walk said,

“One of the best ways to enjoy the spring season is by visiting Arlington to watch nature come back to life”.

There are eight walks overall over three working farms with free mobility scooters for those physically less able. Dogs are allowed providing they are kept on a lead at all times. During their walks, people are given the luxury of a refurbished farm shop which will offer drinks, food and (if needed) shelter.

Walkers are also being guided to the white wood Anemones that come before the bluebells to enhance the visual experience. They are also encouraged to join the Friends of Arlington Bluebell Walk so they can do the trek as many times as they like. For anymore information on the experience, visit: www.bluebellwalk.co.uk
