A late release in the UK, Promised Land focuses on hydraulic fracturing for gas, colloquially known as ‘fracking’. Gus Van Sant directs on a touchy subject that may not appeal to all, but a solid cast including Frances McDormand makes this film one to look out for. Also starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski.
