Chuck Prophet & Mission Express
After a harmonious psych-folk set from Dreaming Spires, the headliners stepped onstage and delivered a non-stop, rip-roaring two hour set that would not have been out of place in an arena. From Lou Reed Transformer-era riffs to country boogie and swamp rock, Chuck expertly led the band through a mosaic of American genres. Hometown San Francisco was well represented with nods to Harvey Milk and fondly-remembered teenage nights that led to a faithful cover of ‘Shake Some Action’. Latest album ‘Temple Beautiful’ featured heavily, with the title track a stadium sing-along in the making. A real treat for Americana aficionados.
