The Disappearances Project

The Disappearances Project was a heart-rending journey through the experiences of the families of those who had disappeared without trace. Using the actual words of relatives, two actors charted the progress from initial hope that the loved one would return, through the practical difficulties of dealing with the authorities, to the inability to move on, even years after the person had gone missing. ‘We were an ordinary family,’ said one voice. ‘You can’t grieve,’ said another. The stark, filmic backdrop of travel through deserted streets by night echoed the sense of a constant search for someone who wasn’t there and the discordant soundtrack added to the feeling of despair and malaise. It was powerful and deeply moving.
