TK Maxx store opening, TakePart Festival, Race For Life 2013 & Youth Music Competition


Youth Music Competition
On 15–16 June 2013 Susanna Cassam Music Tuition  (www.cassam.co.uk) held its Youth Music Competitions, sponsored by Ackerman Music and raising much needed funds for the Belltree Music Therapy Centre (www.belltree.org.uk). It was a great success, with over 40 competitors from beginner to advanced level playing their music to the judges in the hope of winning cash prizes. 

TakePart Festival
TakePart 2013 was a fantastic success with sports and activities taking place across the city for a fortnight. The event, the country’s largest annual sporting festival, ran from 22 June to 7 July.

Organised by the council’s Sports Development team, TakePart mixes high profile events and community-based ventures to offer something for everyone to enjoy.

Jan Sutherland, Sport and Physical Activity Manager for Brighton & Hove City Council, said: “We are proud to see the festival growing and participation higher than ever before. It’s always a buzz to see people coming together in ways which have such long lasting health benefits.”

The celebration linked local clubs and organisations to provide a huge range of taster sessions offering everything from athletics to Zumba. This year thousands of people citywide took part in TakePart and plans are already underway for 2014!

TK Maxx Brighton opens
A brand new TK Maxx store opened its doors at 36-37 North Street on Thursday 27 June at 9am.

The new store features over 24,746 sq ft/ 2,299 sq metres of this season’s must-have fashion and accessories for women, men and kids as well as homeware and will feature the exclusive Gold Label department at a fraction of the normal retail price.

TK Maxx spokesperson, Helen Gunter said: “We are very excited to be opening a brand new store in Brighton bringing local shoppers big savings on all their favourite brands and labels.”

Race For Life 2013
Women of all ages and abilities took part in Race For Life 2013 at Brighton’s Stanmer Park on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June. Participants walked, jogged or ran the five-mile route to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The park was a flock of pink for this annual successful fundraiser. A big congratulations to all who took part!
