Keziah Thomas – Harp Recital: Music in the Music Room

The golden harp was perfectly at home amid the splendid dragons and silks of the Music Room on Thursday night. Keziah Thomas was a charming, chatty host and expressive performer, explaining the historical and technical context of each piece in her friendly, interesting way. The varied programme included modern work inspired by African rhythms in which Keziah drummed on the soundboard. This delightful, original artist also surprised us with an Argentine tango and pieces by Gershwin and Duke Ellington alongside traditional Welsh folk songs and Baroque compositions. Fresh, fun, occasionally funky; I’m sure George the Prince Regent would have approved.
