Two armed robbers steal cash from Brighton coffee shop
Two men stole a large quantity of money in a raid on a coffee shop in Brighton.
The pair were part of a group of five men who went into the Costa coffee shop in London Road, Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “The incident happened on Monday 15 July when five men entered the shop and bought food and drinks.
“They sat at a table but two of them then left and went into the staff area where it is believed they stole personal property from bags.
“When confronted by a member of staff, they demanded he open the safe and give them the money.
“One was armed with a hammer and the other a screwdriver.
“A large quantity of money was then stolen by the men who ran out of a side door. The remaining three left shortly afterwards.
“This robbery happened several weeks ago but a number of inquiries have been undertaken during that time and we were waiting for evidence to come back before releasing this photo.”
Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV picture is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or email contact.centre@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Two men from Liverpool, one of them an 18-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
They have been released on police bail until Saturday 2 November while further inquiries are carried out.
