Comedy: Stewart Lee & Stand Up for Labour

Not one but two treats to give us a taster of the Brighton Comedy Festival arriving this week

Although the Brighton Comedy Festival strictly speaking doesn’t start until Friday 4 October, they’ve rustled up some incredible shows to whet our comedy appetites, both of which roll in to town this week.
First up is Stewart Lee’s Much A-Stew About Nothing.

Running on both Thursday and Friday nights in Brighton Dome’s Concert Hall, the acclaimed writer and comedian brings together a mish mash of topics and ideas in preparation for his 2014 TV series. You’ll see them here first, and more than likely hear a few ideas that may be a little too close to the bone for the censors but will delight a live audience no end.

Secondly, coming to the same stage on Sunday night, is a fundraiser for the Labour Party. It being the first night the Labour Party Conference enjoys our seaside hospitality there may be more than a couple of familiar faces from the world of politics in the audience.

On stage, however, the big hitters have come to town. Sporting sets from Eddie Izzard (Bexhill lad done good), John Bishop, Stephen K Amos, Jo Brand and Lloyd Langford, this is a truly fantastic line-up. Originally set to play at The Old Market, the demand got so big the show just had to move to the bigger room.

All tickets at the cheaper price have sold out, but you might be able to grab one of the last few at £31.
A remarkable week for laughs, no doubt about it.
