Tipis are tops

Tremendous tipis at Brighton Music Hall keep the entertainment going, whatever the weather

Set in wonderfully restored Victorian arches, Brighton Music Hall has been serving up quality live music, drinks and food on the beach near the West Pier since the owners took over the former Gemini site over two years ago. The huge heated terrace hosts a free daily carnival atmosphere throughout the year with the best of local bands singing crowd favourites. They have also developed the former derelict upstairs room into a beautiful, light space that spans seven arches, each with its own huge arched window boasting the best pier to pier views in Brighton. The first floor restaurant hosts weddings, parties and corporate events throughout the year serving a range of menus from breakfast and lunch to fabulous contemporary buffet and canapé menus for larger groups.

Whilst obviously packed to the rafters throughout spring and summer, this fantastic space was always to some extent wasted during the winter which was a great shame, given that the beach is even more dramatic in winter. Therefore, having searched for a solution for two years, Steve, the proprietor, stumbled across some amazing tipis in inner city Manchester. “As soon as I saw them I knew they were what we were looking for,” says Steve. “It was a grim February afternoon but when I entered the tipis the world was transformed into a warm magical place! They soar above you with twinkling fairy lights adorning the hundred-year-old wooden poles and the whole room glowed with real fires crackling inside. The streets outside were virtually empty yet inside the tipis the space was filled with laughter and celebration as people dined from the indoor barbecue. I knew I had to bring them to Brighton Beach.”

The Brighton Music Hall Tremendous Tipi will be hosting a range of private and public events throughout the winter period. The tipis can hold up to 250 standing and will boast a permanent stage for live music, open fires and a huge dance floor. They will be available for private hire, fantastic as a winter wedding venue or for party hire. Wanting the tipis to be as accessible as possible and to be enjoyed by the widest range of people, a range of ‘pop up’ public events have also been organised. Launching in October’s half term week will be a ‘Festival of all things Apple and Pumpkin’ which will see Brighton Music Hall and the Tremendous Tipi transformed into a week long live music festival with an all-important local cider bar and kitchen, pumpkin carving, apple bobbing for the kids, Morris dancing and even ferret bingo! Brighton Music Hall promises this will be the solution to entertaining the family during half term.

For Christmas, the Prince Regent himself and Mistress Fitzherbert cordially invite you and your guests to enjoy what promises to be the most frivolous of festivities and flummeries at the Brighton Music Hall’s Tremendous Tipi Yuletide Banquet and Ball. Reminiscent of the greatest festive feast of the Prince Regency, The Regent’s Banquet, guests can expect a truly unique, decadent and fun-filled evening! The tipi will also be following Brighton Music Hall’s live music theme with Saturday live BBQs and Sunday Roast sessions so you will be able to enjoy this new venue whatever your budget. This new pop-up Brighton venue really will be the hottest ticket in town this winter. Here at Latest 7 we are almost wishing the summer away… Almost.
