An Evening with Barry Norman

There’s few people that can match Norman’s encyclopaedic knowledge of films, and so it’s almost disappointing that he concentrated on just four films that in his opinion weren’t the best of all time but were definitely in his top 500; ‘Casablanca’, ‘Gone With The Wind’, ‘The Adventures Of Robin Hood’ and ‘Dirty Harry’. Slightly stagnant due to script reading, it was nonetheless a fascinating insight into the machinations of movie making and when off script Norman really brought each film to life. The Q&A was a wasted opportunity with some embarrassingly benign questions but an enjoyable and interesting evening nonetheless.
